COURSES

E-Z Air offers both commercial and private helicopter license training.  Advanced courses, such as the instructor rating and instrument rating, and advanced operational training, are also available.
TUITION & ENROLLMENT

Flight training is conducted throughout the year.  Class size is limited, however, and enrollment in a course is by interview only.   To reserve a place in a course, you must attend an interview, purchase your ground school kit, and complete the enrollment paperwork, including the contract of tuition.  On your first day of training, you must have your Transport Canada medical certificate (Class 1 for commercial license students, Class 1 or 3 for private license students) and valid personal identification.

Payment of course tuition is in scheduled installments.  We do not require the full amount "up front" and we do not charge GST on commercial training.  Tuition amounts are based on the hourly student rates for our training helicopters.  Please contact us for current tuition amounts and for information about financing and government loan and grant programs for aviation students.

Should the decision be made to cease training, tuition will be refunded in the manner specified by the Alberta Private Vocational Schools Regulations.  A copy of these regulations is included with the ground school kit.

Students should be aware that the medical examiner and Transport Canada will charge service and/or licensing fees.  Anticipate total miscellaneous fees of approximately $500.00 CDN, above the cost of tuition.

INFORMATION  ABOUT:
INTRODUCTION

E-Z Air is a Transport Canada-approved flight school.  We are dedicated to providing students with high-quality instruction.  We are constantly evolving, seeking new ways to help our students become safe, skilled, professional pilots.  We believe that the best training environment is one that:
  • offers a variety of instructional techniques;
  • considers the aptitudes and needs of the individual;
  • continually challenges the student; and
  • consistently offers opportunities for self-evaluation

OUR HELICOPTERS

E-Z Air uses the Robinson R44, a four-seat piston-engine helicopter, and the Bell 206 JetRanger, a five-seat turbine-engine helicopter.

The R44 is our basic trainer, chosen for its versatility, safety record, and increasing popularity as both a private and commercial aircraft.  It is outselling every other civillian helicopter on the market today, thanks to its low operational costs and reliability.

The JetRanger is our advanced operational trainer.  Many commercial operators in Canada use the JetRanger as an entry-level light turbine helicopter, and it is currently in use by the Canadian Armed Forces for initial helicopter training.  It has forgiving flight characteristics, making it an excellent trainer.

Students investing in R44 and JetRanger training will reap significant advantages in terms of better employability, and the chance to do some advanced operational training within the timeframe of the commercial program.  Practical job-related training in the JetRanger can be customized to include mountain flying, external load training, or a night rating.
OUR SIMULATOR

Our purpose in developing and using a simulator is the creation of a believable, immersive, computerized training environment that completely engages the student's skills and attention.  Our simulator has received Transport Canada approval as a Level 2 Flight Training Device.   Our commercial program students can receive flight time credit for up to 5 hours of simulator time - at a fraction of the cost.

The simulator is useful for both VFR and IFR training.  For VFR flight training, the simulator is excellent for practicing flight procedures.  For IFR flight training, it provides realistic IMC conditions for a variety of radio procedures, approaches, and departures.  Students training for their instrument rating find the simulator
particularily useful.  Transport Canada allows up to 20 hours of instrument flying to be done in our simulator.
